lonelygirl15 llc (the company name listed all over the lg15.com website) no longer exists per the california corporations website. it is listed as "merged out" which means it has been merged into another business entity. who it has been merged into and the date is not available online, though apparently it is public information.

so eqal is most likely a succesor corporation to lonelygirl15 llc

good question. i wondered that, but the terms of service and similar mumbo jumbo on lg15.com all use "lonelygirl15 llc", and i couldn't find any california listing for LG15 Studios. So, while its not impossible that there is a separate entity, its probably just another public name (legally, a d/b/a - doing business as).

well, if they just wanted to change names, you would do that. so its more than that. "merging out" suggests that lonelygirl15 llc was merged into some other entity. that might be done if there are new investors taking equity in the new entity. so, lets say EQAL at founding is 100% owned by Michael Eisner. it might "purchase" lonelygirl llc in exchange for equity, thereby diluting eisners ownership in favor of the prior owners of lonelygirl15 llc, to some prearranged structure (e.g., eisner 51%, beckett 24%, goodfried 24%, broken kid 1%). its just one of a number of ways to structure a merger or new business venture, or new investments. it can also be related to new creditors (instead of new equity owners).

I find this, plus the "eqal" login screen very curious. It is showing a clear connection between not only the creators of LG with EQAL but also a connection between LG and EQAL itself. So one could infer that these are not two unrelated ventures.

A couple other notable urls:
alpha.lonelygirl15.com is the same ns1.lonelygirl15.com and ns2.lonelygirl15.com and leads to the "eqal" login
beta.lonelygirl15.com and beta.lg15.com both led to a less interesting "beta" login
test.lonelygirl15.com leads to a "Password Required" login

It is pretty standard practice for a site to have a alpha, beta and or test url to test out new updates. What I think is notable is that the eqal login is only accessible via lonelygirl15.com and not lg15.com. And that http://www.lonelygirl15.com redirects not to http://www.lg15.com but to the homepage for the LG videos. So this leads me to believe there is a connection between LG and eqal and not one between KM and eqal.

Now since EQAL is production and distribution of online series perhaps it is going to be the new way LG is distributed, but won't be able to distribute KM due to the preexisting deal with Bebo.

Or they are just lazy with their redirects and it all means nothing.

p.s. does anyone else think that this OOG meta-game is playing out in a far more interesting way than the in-game game. They should just make their next series more of stuff like this.
