Heh...not sure exactly what hubby and I are doing, but it seems to be working. Both our kids have a severe allergy to people of the opposite sex who are not related. We'll see how long that lasts, though. Our son will be 11 at the end of this month, so I'm sure its just a hop, skip and a jump away before he notices girls.

No big surprise here:

DNA Tests Show Boy-Dad Alfie Patten is NOT the Daddy

Alfie Patten, now 13, had a £300 DNA test after half a dozen boys claimed to have slept with schoolgirl pal Chantelle Stedman, 15.

It proved the 4ft-tall pupil was not the father of her seven-week-old girl Maisie Roxanne.

The result will be a blow to Alfie who was “devastated” by the boys’ claims and “adored” Maisie.

Poor kid, I hope he can go on and have a semi-normal life now. And especially, poor Maisie. :(

wait, what about this!!!!

ZOMMMGGG!!

also,i distinctly remember that the DNA results here were to be private by law. the paper definitely had to pay out to "break" the story, dontcha think?

The result will be a blow to Alfie who was "devastated" by the boys' claims and "adored" Maisie.

He was convinced he was the dad after a single night of unprotected sex with Chantelle.

Before he took the test, he said: “I didn’t know about DNA tests before but mum explained it’s when they do a swab in your mouth and it tells if you’re the dad. So if I have it, they can all shut up.”

His mum Nicole, 43, added at the time: “It had not even crossed Alfie’s mind whether Chantelle had not been faithful to him. He’s absolutely devastated that these lads say they slept with her.” [the use of concepts like "faithful" with a pre-teen regarding a single night of passion is just ludicrous.]

Chantelle became pregnant aged 14 after she “forgot to take” her contraceptive pill last May.

At the time, she claimed: “Alfie’s the only boy I’ve been with.” [but she was on the pill already?]

Alfie insisted: “I am the only boyfriend Chantelle’s had and we’ve been together two years. I must be the dad. When she found out she was having a baby, I asked her, ‘Am I the dad?’ and she went, ‘Yeah’, so I believe her.” [Is it really possible Alfie believed this? I don't think so.]

Last month it was claimed Alfie had been the victim of a cruel con. [That's the amazing thing - hes probably PART of the con, yet is being treated like a victim.]

Chantelle told her half-sister Jodie O’Neill, 17, the father could have been one of a number of boys she slept with at her parents’ home in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

She said her mum Penny, 38, ordered her to keep saying she had been a virgin when she slept with Alfie, from Hailsham....

I mean, really, nobody is a winner in this story. except for you know who:

This is why I hate humans. Most people believed this story all along and were shocked and outraged. Anyone can make up a story like this, and as it turns out, can make a lot of money. Recall the guys last year with a bigfoot (costume) in a freezer? I just know they made a lot of money off of that con (but don't know the figures if so). I think the Alfie story is even less believable than Bigfoot, but people hear something in a paper and just believe it because they heard it. It really underminds democracy when you realize the average person is so easily led.

ah, hyemew, but since we know the truth, all that is left is for us to exploit it for our own means!

and i think that's a good thing. this article notes that the sfgate article rob cited quotes a ton of the original article, plus that the story has been picked up everywhere now.

also, same blogger notes here that the 404 url reveals the content of the story:

From the People Who Brought You Alfie...

Postby Mathieas » Tue Apr 20, 2010 6:20 pm

Milo's question yesterday about Natalie Dylan and whether or not she sold the key to her secret garden got me to wondering about other freak stories from the past.

Apparently, the 13 year old Alfie is not the father, but some bloke named Tyler who claimed that he and 5 other lads could have easily sired the miracle baby.
