Baby-faced boy is father at 13

This news article from the Sun is fairly ridiculously written, but just read it! And watch the video on the page...

“I didn’t think about how we would afford it. I don’t really get pocket money. My dad sometimes gives me £10.”

“We didn’t think we would need help from our parents. You don’t really think about that when you find out you are pregnant. You just think your parents will kill you.”

Umm what the hell? He's 13 and only 4 feet?! Does he have dwarfism or something?
No but seriously, I think all signs point to he has hardly entered puberty let alone is capable of reproducing. This just doesn't make sense. He's not baby-faced, he actually appears to be a baby, both in pictures and the video. Meanwhile the girl is 15 and looks like she's 30 compared to him. That alone makes this story so gross, she seems like a predator for doing it with a 12 year old. Everyone matures at different times but there is no way I was doing this or knew what to do at 12 (I still don't! :P). Some people are definitely capable of it at 12 though, he just doesn't appear to be one of them.
Is The Sun one of those tabloid hoax papers because I can't see how this is real. Or perhaps the giant woman was sleeping around with more than just him (who knows what the extent of their actual "sexual" contact was that one might), but either has no real contact with the true father(s) or for whatever reason they'd be even less suitable fathers (like not getting a 10 pound allowance from their fathers!) and she just decided hey I'll go with this one as the father, despite how clearly ridiculous it looks. If I was the family I'd be demanding a DNA test right about now, how can someone who hasn't gone through puberty impregnate a girl?! Nurse Suze, any help?

EDIT: "Alfie, who lives on an estate across town with mum Nicola, 43..."
ESTATE?!?!?! Do they mean the mom works for an estate and lives there as the help, or do they own an estate?!?! It also says he goes to a school with a uniform. I think we just hit paydirt here in the explanation of what went on. Giant woman maybe fooled around with the little one that night, along with others more seriously, and one of them got her pregnant. It was time to pin the nose on the father so why not pick the one who lives on an estate instead of the slum-dwellers or just regular poor folk you actually did the full deed with. Having an unemployed dad demonstrates a clear motive. 10 pounds isn't a negligible allowance for a 13 year old either, it implies the parents aren't wanting.
At his age in my Catholic school the nuns used to tell (mainly the girls) that hugging leads to pregnancy. I really hope his parents got more details on what exactly led to him "impregnating" this weirdo. The dad said they never had "the talk" after all. The whole thing is weird, ick.

This article says the Tory leader has allegedly commented on the story so maybe it is more than a tabloid hoax? http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/ ... article.do
Doesn't mean he's the father, just more than a tabloid hoax.
I am pretty much convinced the story is lying about both of their ages, she isn't 15 and he isn't 13.

Also more regarding the "estate" he lives on. Given the tenor of the story, this British definition of estate leads to it making more sense:
Estate = Housing estate: The council house is a form of public or social housing in the United Kingdom. Council houses were built and operated by local councils to supply uncrowded, well built homes on secure tenancies at affordable (below market) rents to the local population. As of 2005, approximately twenty percent of the country’s housing stock is owned by local councils or by housing associations.

Sounds like the British version of Section 8.
Oh and the anti-abortion activist who is holding them up as models in the name of morality or whatever (if that Sun quote is true) is utterly shameless. This gives me nightmare flashbacks to the Sarah Palin crap. If Obama had a teenage daughter who got pregnant, he and she would be attacked by the right. Palin's teenage daughter gets pregnant and the right hails them as heroes for not having an abortion and taking responsibility. Some on the right, who are normally appalled by unwed mothers, were just about applauding them for it. The hypocratic dissonance is staggering.

I agree, that was my first thought: no way that kid is anywhere near puberty yet. He looks 3rd grade, girl looks mid-late teens. I would definitely be looking at a DNA test. That said, puberty happens over a period of time, not overnight, so who knows. It's very strange.

The girl being so much larger and older-looking... well, I was already 5'8" when I was 12, I looked about 16 then (although much, much skinnier than that poor child). Fortunately, the boys my age in our small town were alarmed by my suddenly changed appearance, and older guys took one look at my ultra-protective parents and scurried away (also, they knew my dad was the City Attorney!). So I spent my early teens in happy, nerdy ignorance of most stuff like this.

I remember when my sons were playing soccer, the 14-and-under teams were always a strange-looking group of boys. Some of them looked like little children still, some had whiskers and looked like they were married with a couple of kids.

All I know is my nephew who is 3 is 3 1/2 feet tall, I look at that kid and he doesn't look much older. Also, if you look in his eyes he looks dead inside.

I don't know why I find this so disturbing, I know that once upon a time it wasn't uncommon for 12 year olds to get married and have kids, granted that was usually girls and even then that was considered young; however, everytime I see that picture it seriously disturbs me.

I agree with Math. He really does look dead inside. And this story disturbs me too, but I can't quite put my finger on why.

If I were the parents I would definitely get a DNA test. Although, I thought it was possible for boys to reproduce before puberty. I was taught that at school at one stage, but I was taught a lot of things that I've since found out are wrong.

Hye, you've since researched it, but yes - estates are basically slums. We have Government Housing here in Australia, which is likened to American trailer parks. So I've known of a lot of baby daddies, but none that looked this young. If I were the parents there is NO WAY I'd let the media get involved. But seeing where these people come from and the situation they are in, I think that they could be thinking about possible financial gain? Still - that kid, even the girl... they are too young for being thrown into the public eye with something this huge. Neither of them understands the gravity of the situation.

In the video, where the kid doesn't even know what "financial" means... I just feel beyond sorry for this family. I wonder if the kid might actually be younger than 12 at this point. Though, the whole family don't seem that sharp to be honest (I guess it's evident). Whether there are lies involved here or not, the concept of this disturbs me.

If you can handle it, here is Part II,

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/ne ... 238252.ece

I wonder if this is actually a new web series, if so I can't wait to see what the interactive element is going to be, maybe Alfie and Chantrelle doing vlogs telling about their day and asking for advise, ect, their Parents can get in on the action, and how about a Forum, Produce Placements, T shirt contests, and finally a TSIY.
