The decision on their part to go as Old Hollywood as possible will come back to haunt them in the future as A-List vanity projects continue to faulter. Hense it being a solid choice for dumbest moments.

Whatever Mr. Insider I saw you mentioned on Tubefilter. Your just another soulless sellout to the man, go drink your fancy bottled wine and yuck it up with all your buddies at Tubefilter.

P.S. :)

Venus Spa wrote:That's a good one no matter how many Academy members defended the process here. They looked very, VERY desperate to be close to celebs and with the only exception of Felicia Day, spit on the indies as hard as they possibly could. The problem is that they considered this approach a SUCCESS and have no plans of changing. If they did want to change things, you'd see more legit indies in TF and NTV...

It's been a while since I've gone toe-to-toe with good ole Chris...

I'd like to point out I was one of the people defending the Streamy awards and I am not (as of now) an Academy member.

And how you forget that long talk we had about just how many indie web series I personally have reviewed over at Tubefilter...that was a specific change that they put in effect upon hearing people's concerns. Because of a new day job, I am sadly unable to do as many articles as in the past, but I hope to pick up again in the next couple of weeks and keep a good ramp-up through Streamy season.

Which leads me to your erroneous statement that they "have no plans of changing". There are lots of changes planned for the Second Annual Streamy Awards, believe me. They will never be able to please everyone, but gall darn it, they will give it the ole college try. And honestly, THEY should be proud of that, no matter what the people outside looking in have to say. They are still doing something no one else has done or been able to do and no one can take that away from them.

But hey, you go ahead and keep calling them dumb if you like. Give me more to talk about. :)

I have mentioned this in past posts here but your writings have been the exception to the rule on tf, the rest seems to be all about the celebs. Little has changed with the tone of tubefilter and the next time NewTeevee covers a non "name" or Big Media project will be the first time since they shredded CBB.

Name one that affects the indies.

Actually you commented on a discussion thread right here on AnchorCove about someone doing an awards for the web of their own. Hell it was more encompasing than the Streamies will EVER be. Then there's the Webbies that have been around since Jesus was in diapers. (The Perezies don't count.)

But hey, you go ahead and keep calling them dumb if you like. Give me more to talk about. :)

So spitting on the indies that are the majority of the web series's on the web today was a SMART idea in 2009?

*EDIT* It should also be noted that I didn't originally post the Streamies as a 'Dumbest Moment' here. I agreed with it because of how shortsighted the tone of the show was, (and is likely to remain for 2010,) but I didn't originally post it.

I hope one of the changes to next year's Streamy Awards is that instead of a useless trophy the winners receive an assortment of Arby's coupons. :)

Make it BK and I'd maybe consider taking them seriously...

I guess I need to remember that when you say "Tubefilter" you don't include myself in that?

Venus Spa wrote:Name one that affects the indies.

Unfortunately, I can't do that because it would be breaching the trust of Tubefilter. There is still a lot of planning to do and it's not my place to lay their/our plans out on the table. I would hope "trust me" would suffice but I suppose that is asking for a huge leap of faith, which I understand most people here aren't willing to do and which I am okay with. I really just speak what I believe to be true and you do the same and that's the way it will always be. :)

But you are the one who is most vehemently opposed to pretty much everything Tubefilter does, so I felt it right to address your comments as opposed to Mathieas', which were given in a mostly respectful and oftentimes humorous tone with a valid argument laying below them. Your response had more points I felt I wanted to address with the information I had at my disposal.

I'll see what can be done about this "Arby's" issue...I know I'd take a roast beef sandwich over a trophy any day.

After last year's debacle "trust me just because" just isn't good enough for me.
